Elegant, Scrumptious, Fine Dining in Philadelphia---Surprise: It's Vegan!

It has literally been years that I have been meaning to try a Vegan restaurant called Horizons. When I first heard of it, it was in Willow Grove and I was not exactly sure where. To me, "vegan" corresponds with tie die and sitar music, but the person who recommended it was a normal, middle aged successful realtor and I always support vegetarian options, so I kept it in mind. Wasn't it the movie Annie Hall where Woody Allen makes fun of The Golden Carrot (really The Source Restaurant) on Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Hey Angelinos. Is The Source still sitting on that valuable real estate? Anyway, Horizons, the Philadelphia restaurant, relocated to Center City at least a couple years ago. And it got a liquor license! Philadelphia is famous for BYOBs....very nice ones....but it is lovely to not have to bring a bottle....especially when your companions are not drinking. I can't recommend Horizons highly enough. The enthusiastic, photogenic young couple who own it clearly know their food and make a visit to their eatery a sophisticated, delicious adventure. The wait staff is highly trained and professional. The atmosphere is relaxing and well designed. The food presentation is first rate. The complexity of the ingredients is sublime. Get past "vegan." Rework the possibilities. Horizon is just off South Street at 7th.

Zeta:  I would love to have dinner with you, but I just want to make sure it is ok if I wear my tye-dye tee shirt, and bring my iPOD and speakers so I can listen to my favorite sitar music.  That IS ok, right ?

It sounds like Horizons is a great place.  Sure wish I could be there with you.  Take care...
