You and "YOUR" Property Tax Bill

Local Municipal Elections - Your Only Opportunity To Determine who Spends Them

Local Municipal Councils, Councillors and Mayors are the closest of all politicians to you and I the taxpayer. Generally they are the most responsive to our questions and comments on how they spend our tax dollars.

Local Council Seats

At the moment there is one ward (ward 5) in Uxbridge that has only one candidate registered, the incumbent Gordon Highet. and only the incumbents are registered for both the separate and public school board. trustees seats. (source - Uxbridge Cosmos)  You have until Friday Sept 10th to register if you wish to run.

Regional Council Seat Hotly Contested

With Regional Councillor Howie Herrema announcing earlier this year that he would not be running again 2 local councilors and a former councillor have thrown their hat into the contest for the regional seat so that should be an interesting race to watch.

The Race For Mayor

The most interesting race will be the contest between the incumbent Mayor Bob Shepherd and Former long time Uxbridge Mayor Gerri Lynn O'Connor.

At the moment Sheppard seems to have the upper hand at least as far as a personal web presence goes but is it enough to win again. This may well help him with the younger web savvy voters but O'Connors long term commitment to Uxbridge and her personal connections with the residents of the community will certainly help to offset that presence. If O'Connor has a personal web presence now is the time to crank it up and turn on the heat under her opponent.

Candidates list not final yet

Occasionally someone changes their mind and does not run or runs in a different ward or for a different position.
