Hi Lisa - Thanks, you have an awesome weekend too!
Anza Days is fun - I had scads more photos but just need to put them on a web page and link to it, I think.
SCA, yes, that's one of the things I like about Anza. In a real killer heat wave, the difference is marginal, but it was 102º in Temecula this afternoon and 91º in Anza. Being in the mountains, it also cools off rapidly at night. Most people get by with evaporative coolers.
Thanks for commenting! Have a super Labor Day Weekend and stay safe!
Lot's of fun places around Anza. I like it in the fall when it's a bit cooler...
I think I just drove through Anza a few weeks ago on my way from Palm Springs to San Diego... Top of the Pines to Palms Highway and west? Yes, it is tiny. I wish I had a little extra time to spend a day or two in Idyllwild this trip. Maybe next time.
Hi Will - Yes, and it will be much cooler soon. There was even a fair amount of snow in Anza last winter. Wow, is that a lobster in your profile pic? It's HUGE!
Hey there, Ed - Yep, Anza is that little place on the 371 where one must slow down to 45 mph on the way from Hwy 15 to Palm Springs! Not too much there but a Dairy Queen, three gas stations if you count the Circle K, and more real estate offices than anything else! LOL! I love Idyllwild, too. So many cool little shops, and a couple of really good restaurants. The 371 ends at Hwy 74, the aptly named Pines to Palms Hwy. If you go left, you get to Idyllwild, and if right, Palm Desert.
So I was right. Been there. I remember the 45mph well. I did comment on the number of real estate offices when we were driving because we have 17 here in Westhampton Beach in our 2 block stretch of Main Street.
That's funny. I am such a native California girl that I never think of actual BEACHES in connecton with New York.
It could be worse in Anza. I believe the county was thinking of putting in a roundabout at the corner where the fire station is, Contreras and 371. They may have abandoned the plan. I hope so! The few roundabouts we have here in SoCal are a menace to life and limb. Ugh.
I will be going to the East Coast myself next week, flying into Newark but heading for Pennsylvania eventually. I usually try to get up to New York City during my annual trip, but not this year. We have a huge National Specialty for my breed of dog (Smooth Fox Terriers) and I have attended every year so far since 1985. Loads of fun!
You have quite a "commute" with offices in San Diego and Westhampton! You go, Ed!
It's a great thing being bi-coastal. I just don't get out to SoCal as often as I would like. Smooth Fox Terriers... adorable breed. I'm a Pug man myself. This is Harley... "Mr. Personality".

Virginia:
What a fun event. I love the horses. How awesome are they? Have a great weekend.
