The Real Unemployment Picture

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with TheHousingGuru.com

While politicians keep telling us that the unemployment picture is improving, a quick look at the numbers for home, auto, and retail sales, as well as the consumer confidence index paints a different picture. With millions of unemployed and millions more underemployed, we may be bleeding jobs less rapidly, but we’re far from being “on track.”

Take a look at the following graphs from Calculated Risk; they paint the real unemployment picture, a stark portrayal of how far we’ve fallen and how far we have yet to go.

Yet the regime continues to try and convince us they've made progress toward recovery?

Jon - Perhaps they haven't seen the graph--or won't look.  BTW I somehow missed my "summer of recovery."  Did you get yours?

John,

Thank you for showing this. The feds can't produce jobs but everyone thinks they can. We need lower regulation and more confidence in the economic stability of this country - that the feds can do. :)

More opinions than you want to hear about.

Netanyahu needs to come to America and facilitate peace talks between the White House and the business community.  Of course, there should probably be a cease fire before talks begin.

Terry - While we have more long-term unemployed and more total unemployed than at any time since the Great Depression, I'm amazed that so little has been done to address the problem.

Steve - Few have confidence at this point.

E.J. - A "Cease Fire" is definitely in order.

Thom - The news isn't anything to fear, just to understand and proceed accordingly. Always good to see you, but if you crawl under a rock, I may never find you :  )

The government can't "fix" the problem... especially when the solution is more about getting out of the way than about creating more red tape and "programs"...

Lane - They are far from coming to that understanding, and will keep "tweaking" in an effort to either get it fixed or destroy it altogether.
