We don't like to think about it...but

Just posted a blog about foreclosures and animal pets left behind in a vacant home.

It isn't something we tolerate...the abuse or misfortune of a family pet. ...

How the children must feel to leave part of the family, their pet, alone in a vacant house that no longer is the the family home.

It is tough to think and accept the fact that devastation.... be it foreclosures, floods, fire, earthquakes or any other catastrophic event cause pain of the severest kind..abandonment. and separation....

It happens and the more we are aware of the problem the more likely something can be done about it.

We as agents hear these horrific stories often.

This past winter,( one of the coldest we have know ) I received a call from a client who just bought a house. It was a very cold but sunny day. The snow was beginning to slowly melt. He was out walking his dog when he heard a very faint meow. A an abandoned cat has been lodged half way under the house and half way exposed to the elements. The body of the cat that was exposed was covered with snow and frozen. What a horrific scene to have witnessed. There are hundreds stories like this.

These helpless pets are the most loyal of friends and they deserve our loyalty and our care...if you can't adopt a pet please consider a donation to your local animal shelter.

Horses are being abandoned in California--owners simply cannot afford to feed them.  The recession affects animals as well as people.

I hate to admit it but I did not even watch the video link.  The sad looking animal on the still shot was enough that I could not click it.

June, I just adopted a sweet little Shit Zhu that was badly abused to the point of spinal damage and no use of her back legs.  Yesterday we were out for a walk and I ran into a couple who had five, yes five small children adopted from Ethiopia.  I sometimes have more empathy for pets than I should, but both are important.  Life seems really hard right now for everyone!

Bless you Sandra..it is wonderful that one more pet was able to leave the shelter and find someone to love.  It is beautiful that 5 little ones found a home and family to love them....There is good in this world in people who take the time to love and care...children or pets ...all need attention, care and love

June,  I was drawn to your video as horrific as it was.  It had me in tears.  I always donate to animal shelters.  I will never understand how anyone could hurt an animal.  If it costs too much, take it to a shelter but don't leave it chained up to die in the heat.
