You'r going to be seeing less of me-part six

Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Chay Realty Inc., Brokerage RECO Reg# 4325734

This is hard for me to write... I seem to have hit a major road bump in my "You're going to be seeing less of me" Project.  It started with a blip in June that I discussed in my July Blog post.

The months of July and August have been discouraging.  I have gained eight more pounds... not where I want to go... In the past, setbacks like this would have me quietly "quit".  Focus on other things and ignore the "elephant" in the room.

The last two months have been a blur.  So much has happened in my life.  I made the choice to change brokerages and join RE/MAX.  The home front has been full. We had some very hot and humid weather, I have had several issues with my big toe originally stemming from an injury while at a party in July.

These all seem like excuses to me, even as I write them.  The purpose of me using this forum as an accountability coach, of sorts, since I have never liked weight watchers (and the many other weight loss organizations out there), but understand the value of their methodology, so I will stand up and be accountable.

My toe injury negatively affected my plans on increasing my activity, and it will be a while longer before my toe will heal completely (I re-injured in last week).

Part of running a successful project entails breaking the project down into work packages and then inserting milestone checks to monitor progress.  Sometimes, we must revisit the original plan and adjust as more information becomes available.

I have delayed writing this post as I try come up with a revised plan.  I think I have it, and am ready to share it.

The first months on a weight loss plan are typically easy, the problems often occur, for me, when I hit the "dog days"... I realize that for me, December and the summer months are abnormal.  I have also chosen to set a more attainable goal.  I tend to be competitive and sometimes choose to stop trying if I feel winning is improbable.

I am not giving up, not this time!

I will adjust my original plan for the remaining 125 pounds I want to lose.  I am re-starting the project as of September 1st.

I am setting goals of losing eight pounds per month, and am excluding the months of December, July and August.  I will set goals of maintaining my weight during those months.  That will result in a planned loss of 9 * 8 pounds, 72 pounds a year, which should have me at my goal weight by April 2012.

In order to up the "ante", I have chosen to make these blogs public, rather than the "member only blogs" I have written to this point.

Upping the activity in my life will become a priority over the next few months.

Now, time will tell...

Have you gone to you doctor and see if he/she can help? My husband has been losing weight without much difficulty because he was diagnosed then treated. He takes orlistat, welburtin, and adderall. Because it was discovered that he is ADHD, which causes bad sleep which adds weight, and he had dramatic swings in appetite and moods, now that we know what is wrong he has been losing weight. So far he has lost 80 pounds and has come down from a 54 to a 40 waist. (He is 6'3") He tried just dieting, but realized he needed medical help when that was not working. Now he is losing the weight at about 2 pounds a week sometimes less, but he has never tried since going to the doctor and still he is losing it. i guess my point/question is have you gone to your doctor? I know it sounds personal, but this is a personal subject you are blogging to everyone and I think it is because you want ideas. I hope you do well in your effort to gain health.

Congratulations Chris on your new plan! It sounds attainable. BTW, we will be following your lead, its time, once again. Check out a new group called something like Taking it off in Active Rain?? Search and check out Roger Mucci, he started the group and they will begin I believe on September 5th. All helping each lose weight. We'll see if we find the right name. But Roger is a stager/decorator. It should be fun as a group. Remember you are never alone, our friend.

Chris, there sure is somthing to holding ourselves accountable.  Public proclomation of of a goal ups the ante considerably as I've experienced with my 30 day blogging challenge.  Best of luck reaching your goals.  Try not to beat yourself up over the setbacks, they're just temporary.  Always be willing to re-adjust when necessary.

Chris - It is good that your plan includes three months where you don't plan to lose weight but maintain your then current weight.  It is especially difficult during the holiday season to continue a diet.

Thank You Caroline for your encouragement

Ken, there is strength in numbers, to both of our success

Ingrid, I regularly go to my doctor, and he is supportive.  One problem is that I am taking metformin and I find it harder to lose weight while on this pill

Thanks, Al & Peggy, I know I can always count on you

Thank Karen for your thoughts... I agree with the added accountability that comes from a public proclamation

Marc, I have adjusted my original plan based on the first seven months to one I feel is much more attainable and realistic, and will still have me get where I want to go
