Shopping is an art at least now it is! With today's high prices people are window shopping but not buying. Who can buy, certainly not the have-nots? When both parents have to work and s-t-r-e-t-c-h that dollar to make ends meet, it is important to know how, when, and where to buy, which are elements of a good shopper, knowing the value of things.
Take clothes for instance, clothes are being used as a way to express one's choice of life, be it political views, national identity, rebellion, and so on. Clothes are one of the most expensive things to buy, so before putting out hard earned money, ask yourself three main questions:
- How often will it be worn?
- Is it a style that will last?
- Is it washable or must it be dry cleaned?
The real bargain in shopping for clothes are clothes that fit well, and can last for years. So buy only what you need. A smart buyer thinks ahead and is more concern with quality than quantity, even if funds are limited. In the long run a garment that is of good quality and cost a little more and can give you years of use may be cheaper than a poorly made garment.
If the item you are replacing is of good quality and can be wore by someone else, don't throw it away, give it to a Goodwill Store or a homeless person.
And remember, it is always a good policy to dress appropriately and according to age, rather than what is the latest fashion, because that certain "in style look" maynot be right for you. Make shopping a pleasure and not an ordeal.
