Good business Etiquette?, Ignoring your emails or not returning your calls?

I have a real problem with any business person who does not return a phone call or reply to an email from a fellow business person or potential client.  Granted we are all busy but even within 72 hrs is not too much to expect.  I have called and emailed several agents who do not seem to deem it necessary to reply to me at all.

What is frustrating is that you want to believe that they have better Business Etiquette than that. Perhaps they didn't get the message for whatever reason or the email must have gotten lost in their junk folder for some reason.  So I (we) take the time to email them and or call them again so we don't think badly of them, am I being old fashioned for feeling this way?

A short reply that they are not interested in my services or do not have the time to talk to me right now is the least that should be expected.  I ran my own business with my husband in Dallas, TX area for 20+ yrs and I would never have been as successful as we were if I had failed to reply to fellow business people or potential clients or customers.

I guess I was raised to believe that it is a common courtesy to return a phone call or to reply in some way.  Good Business Etiquette goes a long way in gaining respect and possibly future business from fellow business people.

I know that I would never refer a client to some one I couldn't count on being courteous and returning my clients inquiries, phone calls or emails.

Brenda - It is unprofessional for a real estate agent not to return phone calls or emails. Thank for the blog.

We should never be too busy for our clients!  Returning calls and e-mails is simply basic service!!

I make it a rule to reply not more than 12 hours for an email and 1 hour for a call. Sooner if at all possible. My motivation? -- Email$ and Phone Call$
