Two distinctive and stunning properties sold in Hawaii Kai in August, both for $2,700,000.  Visit my web site blog post for details on numbers and comparisons to last year.  What I want to emphasize here is that good prices are still available - but - prices are rising.

Four homes have sold this year over $2,500,000, three in Koko Kai - arguably the most prestigious address in Hawaii Kai with the best views, but not oceanfront - and a waterfront home in Portlock.

The Portlock home, built in 1944, was small by standards used now for oceanfront properties, 1,546 SF, but on a 17,515 SF lot with 93' of oceanfront - beach on Maunalua Bay.  Wow!

What do you think of this view!  Diamond head, Maunalua Bay toward Molokai, and the beach with a backdrop of the bay and mountains.  Plenty of land to rebuild or remodel and showcase that view.

Here is a chart provided by Altos Research (on my web site Hawaii Kai Market News Page) that shows pretty graphically the price appreciation in the Honolulu area, of which Hawaii Kai is a part.  In the 1st 8 months of 2009, only one home sold over $2,500,000.
