The City of Lewiston Maine has decided to hold an aution to get rid of surplus items and perhaps bring in some much needed revenue. A wide variety of items will be available from asphalt trucks, misc. vehicles, appliances, and even old stop lights!
The city had thought of holding a giant yard sale, but opted for an auction instead. This could be truly interesting. I'm sure you could find some use for an old stoplight!
The auction will be held at the Lewiston Sand and Salt Facility at 195 River Road on
September 11, 2010 and will start at 9:00am sharp.
Check out the Sun Journal story for even more information. Even if you don't plan on bidding on anything, it will be fun to see what the city has ammassed over time. See you there!
UPDATE: The auction was an incredible success! At one point there were nearly 500 people milling about looking at things and the city netted $83,102 of much needed revenue! They were also able to clear out tons of spaces. They were even able to sell 18,000 yards or reclaimed asphalt.
