well said. You cant hold back from your dreams because you skinned your knees doing it once or twice.
Marchel - I think that has to be a mom thing! ;) My daughter Embry's favorite saying is "Jambors don't quit!" This week has been a bootstraps week, but I think that's I'm better for it. . . . . or at least slightly more grateful for normal daily life if nothing else! ;)
Stan - You totally hit the nail on the head! ;) Just think about what the world would be like if Olympic athletes gave up the first time they fell! We would be an entire planet of couch potatoes! Blech! :(
Phly, Glad things are back to "normal"! We all keep trying until we get it right!
Phyl, great post! Thanks, everyone needs to be reminded that it is up to us to change things! Thanks!
When they first started putting that "Put on you big girl panties......" I HATED IT. But after awhile, I had to agree. There are times when we just have to MOVE ON! :O)
Phly,
I remember a story about Edison when he got the filament right after about 999 tries. He said I now know 999 ways NOT to make a filament. He brushed himself off that many times.
Great read! I think we all missed the awesome writing and blogging skills of the phly on the wall! Well, not the wall, but phly on the fly... HAHAHAHA! Ok, that wasn't very funny, but I am laughing... So I guess that is all that matters. lol
Sometimes we give up, when we were one idea away from success... So well said in the post and the comments!
Liz and Bill - It's all about hanging on to your optimism for dear life when things get rough. The guys at R3altor said to say your doing awesome! ;)
Tony - Thanks, and you are most welcome! ;)
Barbara - The dust usually settles about the time you think you are going to choke to death, but you are right, it does settle in time. ;) Awesome! The guys at R3altor told me that you are a perfect BETA tester. . . and asked if they could please have a bunch more just like you. ;)
Joni - I hate that saying too! I always used to pop back with "What's my underwear got to do with anything?" ;) I like the bridge one better! ;) But I agree, sometimes you just have to suck it up and keep on trucking.
Craig - My mom is living proof of that. She has been told many thing that had she listened her life would be completely different. She was told at different times in life that A) she would never have any more children, (Boy, am I glad she ignored that one!) B)that she would never walk, (Good luck catching up with the woman when she's shopping!) and C )that she would never live to see 30. (She a very young looking 55). She decided that only she had the right to set limits on what she could do, and her life is totally different from what it could have been. . . . but in a very, very good way;)
Terry - I love that story about Edison! He over came some serious challenges and became one of the great names of science. Why? Because he refused to give up! Embry's (my daughter) favorite thing to say is "Jambors don't quit!" and it makes me proud every time she does. ;)
Chris - LOL! ;) I thought it was funny! ;) One of my dance professors told me that if my body did not ache at the end of the day, I was not trying hard enough. You have to give it everything you have, and then give it 10% more if you really want to succeed.
It is all the normal days that make the crazy ones tolerable. Hope that you have a great weekend!
Karen - Thanks! My weekend has been fantastic so far! I hope yours has too!! ;)
I missed this post when it first came out, but I'm glad I ran across it today. What a wonderful inspiration with which to start my new week. Love the song, too. Too many people spend their lives facing backwards when a peak over the shoulder for reminder every now and then should be good enough.
Cara - Switchfoot is amazing! (Wow! I so sounded like a 16 year old groupie there!) ;)I find that if I spend too much time looking back at my past, that the present tends to come along and knock me on my bum. ;)
Phyl, There are just those times that we have to pull ourself up by the boot straps and just keep on going. I can remember my Mother telling me you are a Gifford and Gifford's don't quit.
