Over the weekend while our two older boys were away my wife and I decided to treat ourselves to dinner at Duck Sauce in Newtown Borough. It is hands down our favorite place to eat any time of the week. The atmosphere is fantastic. When it's just the two of us it is our romantic night out with the lights dimmed just a bit and a table for two where you forget about the rest of the world for an hour, but at the same time we've been there with the kids (definitely a kid friendly place) and then we still feel a bit romantic, but it's not like everyone else is staring at you when your kids are... well being kids. It really is the best of both worlds. You can also choose to sit outside which is what we did this weekend because heck it's on State St. and we love to people watch. However, with a 3 month old baby we were more the ones being watched. Folks just love babies and sitting near the entrance everyone wanted to coo a bit which the little man ate up.
The staff at Duck Sauce is very welcoming and friendly from the moment you walk through the door. We always start with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps! My wife could just eat 2 dishes of them instead of ordering an entree. They are so good we've actually had a try at making them at home (that was dinner last night) and although we can make them pretty well we can't compare to Duck Sauce. Once I convince my wife we can't just order Chicken Lettuce Wraps there's a great menu to choose from, that is very reasonably priced. In fact, the entree portions are such a great size that if we can agree on what to eat we split the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and an entree and dinner is less than $30! However, most times we both order separate meals because we both want to try each others dishes. It's still a great price because it's BYOB so you save a good bit on not having to buy drinks.
After dinner it's great to stroll through Newtown Borough. You can stop at Starbucks for a coffee and then stroll down State St. My favorite thing is to walk up and down the side streets checking out all the historic houses. Next time you're in the mood to head out for the night definitely checkout Duck Sauce. Great food! Great Atmosphere! Great Staff! and Great Location!
