There was one line I included in every piece of advertising in the days before cellular phones: "All calls returned in 10 minutes - guaranteed!" Of course, I was always worried about not hearing my pager, meaning absolute silence in the car (no radio, quiet conversations).
The receptionist would send a voice message "Gregg - please call Ashleah Wilson at 604-270-8819 - Ashleah Wilson at 604-270-8819!" The message was given, repeated and then I would have to memorize it and get to the nearest pay phone ASAP. Suffice to say, I kept a roll of quarters close by at all times. And of course, whenever I had to make a call at a pay phone, it would inevitably by raining.
We've come a long way as an industry. I think we're pretty strong early adopters of technology, and the smart phone is no exception.
That's why I'm so excited to announce that the Top Producer 8i iPhone app is available starting today. From this new app, we can make phone calls, and send emails, text messages and (for those who use it) Top Producer Market Snapshot real estate updates as well.
The handheld device is no longer just a business application or tool; it has literally become a way of life. And that's not just for Realtors but consumers too. And this new technology has brought significant opportunity: no more manila folders to house all our contacts, no boxy heavy briefcases to house them all, no more MLS books to be photocopied late at night. So while today's consumer is technology enabled, we as an industry are technology-empowered.
With the Top Producer 8i iPhone app, we now have the ability to have our entire ‘Book of Business' with us all the time. We can launch targeted follow up for any new leads or existing clients - right from our handheld, no matter where we are. Today's consumers have access to more and more information, and expect faster and faster response from us. We've got to stay at least one step ahead of our consumers.
Just think: consumers now have access to almost everything we held exclusively for years, including listing details, photos and videos. They have access while parked beside the home they are interested in - or from the comfort of their home. Just look how positively people have responded to the REALTOR.com® iPhone app, and more importantly, look at how it connects consumers with agents: they simply tap an agent's phone number beside the listing, and are connected immediately. Of course, they expect interaction right away. And we can give it to them.
The mobile consumer expects us to be mobile too. Top Producer 8i for iPhone feels like an important piece of that puzzle. How are keeping up with today's mobile and informed consumer?
