Do I need a logo?

By
Real Estate Agent with nwRealty.Com

This question is often asked when starting up your first website.  The answer ... No, if your an agent and Yes, if your a brokerage or team.  I firmly believe that agents should brand their photo and use it like a logo.  But brokerages and teams need more.

Developing a logo can take tons of time and money so this is something you should seriously consider outsourcing in a cost effective fashion.  We decided to use the folks at logodesignguru.com for our logo.  They offer affordable packages and we had a really good idea of what we wanted before contacting them.

The final result is very similar to a sketch that we provided, but we were able to consider hundreds of other options and variations.  The process saved us a lot of time and delivered a logo that we're very pleased to use.

The process was easy!  We were also provided a flash logo too.

HI Larry,   In another life I owned a small sign company.  People would often ask me to design a business logo.  You should have a very clear idea of what you want before you ask anyone to design a logo or you end up looking at many, many and spending much more than if you had done some design basics.  That said, the biggest mistake I remember was having a logo which was so intricate that it had very little meaning to anyone except the owners.  A logo works best if it uses an easy to read type style ( font ) , can be used without difficult modifications between print, vehicle, internet, embroidered, etc.  Stay away from elaborate fonts- they can be too difficult to read and convey a dende of pretense.

excellent post and information. Thanks Bill for your insights too. Is the use of Color in a logo still a major consideration? it was more of a problem at one time....

Charles - color selection is on a more basic level than we normally consider.  Remember to consider the sight challenged ... the color blind or those with any difficulty seeing.  I've had several brokers want to use combinations of red and blue, then I've heard from vision impared viewers that this color scheme is strenuous and uncomfortable for them to look at.

It was nice to have someone else to the work.  We had logodesignguru's make numerous modifications before we were satisfied.
