One of our flippers will get an unexpected face-lift on Friday. Big Bertha The Magnificent Pine is to be brought down Friday morning. This humongous pine has got to be 100 ft tall and is likely somewhere between 45 and 50 years old. On Monday, she had a branch the size of a large tree come down into the neighbors Mulberry tree next to the front corner of their driveway.
The huge branch hovered over the neighbors home and had been a major cause of concern for the neighbor for many years. When it finally broke, it spun away from the house and went 90 degrees across the yard and landed on top of the Mulberry. It looks like a bridge 30 ft in the air from tree to tree. Thank God it didn't land on the neighbors home... that could have got ugly.
Monday Night shot of the new bridge on Westmont Ave. :)
Below are a couple random pics of Big Bertha that I took back in July
I had a professional Arborist come out to inspect the tree and unfortunately, she has to come down. Too many problems and too close to two homes where she can do some serious damage. It's going to cost $1700 to bring her down, but you can't put a price on safety and peace of mind.
Friday I will be out there early as the crew arrives to video and take a few pics. Even though they will be using a crane, I'll still be across the street and a couple doors down, just in case. :) I will report back on Friday...
