How To Hire A Real Estate Agent

When thinking of selling your home, most people will consider to hire a personal friend in the business. Is that how you were hired where you work? I didn't think so. Real Estate Agents get paid big bucks for two major reasons. The first reason is access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Access to the MLS exposes your home to the most potential buyers. But the second reason, they're supposed to be experts at marketing your home. That is how you will separate the week from the champ. How? by asking them questions you were asked when you applied for your job. The three most important questions to ask a real estate agent before you hire a real estate agent are: 1) Experience - How long have you been in the business and are you a full-time or part-time real estate agent? 2) Effectiveness - How much property have you personally sold in the past year or how many homes have you personally sold in the past year? 3) Execution - How are you specifically planing on marketing my property? What's you plan? newspaper ads these days are only being to satisfy the homeowner, but this is not how real estate is being sold today. Internet! Internet! Internet! These are the new three words in real estate! What's my home worth?

Irena, it's true.  I'm still shocked to see how many people run to buy from their friends or acquaintances without having checked if this person is a full-time agent and has actually been active in the past year!

Irena - very true.

I list a lot of short sales after the seller used the wrong agent before me. Sellers need to hire the best agent for the job, not someone who happens to be their relative, high school buddy or someone who handed them a business card at a yard sale.
