Historic Franklin TN

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Franklin Homes Realty LLC

The City of Franklin TN was founded in 1799 by Abram Maury, a State Senator.  The town was named after Benjamin Franklin who was a close friend of Dr. Hugh Williamson, a member of the Continental Congress, and whom the county is named after.

Historic Franklin is centered around the town square located at the corners of 3rd Avenue and Main Street.  Inside the square is a Civil War Monument erected in 1899.  Many of the historic Franklin homes are within a short walking distance of the square.  In addition to the historic sites, historic downtown Franklin is filled with specialty boutiques and eateries.  Historic downtown Franklin has become a tourist destination for those visiting Middle Tennessee.

Hi Tammie,  What a beautiful shot of the town square and the brick building behind it looks like a Bank.

It matters to us as much as it matters to you.

Great photo of the old soldier with the chipped hat brim Tammie.  When I moved here my agent told me the story behind the chipped hat.  The statue was damaged the day they were putting it in place and a few weeks before the official unveiling.

Tammie, what a beautiful building on the square! It looks like something that would be a great movie set.

June - There are many historic building located on the square.

Mike - I hadn't heard that story.  Isn't history such an interesting thing?

Pat - They have actually shot movies here but it would be a great location for a civil war movie.

Tammie, I can't believe I've lived here as long as I have and didn't know any of that history of Franklin.  What a great post!
