Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton NJ is having a program Friday, November 7 to Dec. 17th from 1 to 3:30pm.  There is no cost for this.

"Designed by Stanford University, this program empowers people living with Type II Diabetes with the skills and support needed in the day-to-day management of this chronic condition".

They will give you an overview of self-management of diabetes. Assist you with making an action plan. Teach you nutrition and healthy eating. The importance of fitness and exercise. Discuss stress management and how to prevent complications.

If you are not in this area, please contact your neighborhood hospital and see if there is a program there for you.

Diabetes is disease that affects all, both young and old.

I was diagnosed with it in April and finally, I decided to do something about it. I saw the warning signals and my doctor explaining that I was a good candidate to get it, change your lifestyle, but do we always listen, no.

So when I was told my most recent A1C test came back higher than my normal, I knew it was time to take action.

i promised myself never to put sugar in my mouth again, and honestly, most days I don't, but since I have been tested again and lost 30 lbs, I am now a controlled diabetic. But that doesn't mean I can eat what I want, I just know by the testing two hours after I eat, what my body can eat and what it can't and by eliminating those foods out of my diet, I know the diabetes is currently at rest.

But not everyone can do what I can. I take no pills or insulin, it's all diet and exercise.

So for those who are having difficulty staying on course, please either come to this program or contact your doctor or hospital to find a program like this for you.
