Useful Websites #14

Here is Useful Websites #14:

Do you remember what was the clue or hint I had given for this site? Let me see if you can still get it. The clue was: Real-time Real Estate Data.

And here is the answer - or here is the useful website #14.

Altos Research Logo

I think, this is the first useful website that I have included in this series which is NOT FREE. But to best of my knowledge, if you contact them, they will surely provide you a sample report in your area. Look at the report and then decide weather you'd like to subscribe to their services or not.

So what do they do?

As the name suggest - they do some kind of research. And since their 'tag-line' is Real-time Real Estate Data , you can put 2 and 2 together and arrive at '22' ( should read '4') - Yes, they research the real estate data. And how can they help us, Realtors(r)? Here it is...

Have you ever come across the 'big' question - How's the market?

Most probably, your answer will begin with -- 'It depends' and then, you follow up with your own script. As far as AltosResearch is concerned, THEY HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWER based on the most recent data (updated on weekly basis).

( In fact, I was introduced to AltosResearch team at recent Tom Ferry events (one in Boston - Business By Design in June 2010 and another one at Anaheim, CA - Tom Ferry's Success Summit.) And no surprise - their promotion table was next to ActiveRain's promotion table at one of this event. So, here I am, trying to find out what ActiveRain has to offer me and just next to them, it is AltosResearch. )

Here is one of the graphs for my market from their website (and let me remind you - THIS IS LIVE DATA and THIS CHART GETS UPDATED EVERY WEEK!) --

Real Estate Market Chart by Altos Research

This chart clearly negates the big news about 27% down market in July. In fact, DOM are going down and median price is going up!

Imagine having this information on your webpage - updated every week, automatically. Will you not have more visitors, visiting your website more often - and you are crowned as 'market expert' for your market! And you can blog about this, too. (I plan to do so, for sure!)

There is a lot to what they offer - but I do not want to write an essay about their services.

This is from their home page:

What is the Real Estate Market Doing Right Now?

You don't have time to wait. The housing market is changing day to day. You need to know what the market is doing based on real-time data. Unlike other sources that take months to gather market data, Altos Research analyzes current real estate activity. Only Altos helps you get the up-to-date information you need. Today.

Local Market Data You Can't Get Anywhere Else

Do you need to understand the dynamics of the local market? You need zip code data. Think NAR has it or OFHEO? Guess again. In fact, you won't be able to find the really important local data from any of the national sources. Only Altos Research gives you market data down to the zip code level. Over 15,000 of them, and counting. Because Altos market analysis is consistently calculated across zip codes around the country, the statistics provide powerful, unique insights for our customers.

Unique Real Estate Statistics for Powerful Analyses

Each of us is faced with different business challenges. You might need to help a client price a home. Or you might be a developer who needs to know how to plan for the future. In either case, Altos Research provides unique statistics that will equip you to make the best decisions. Statistics likePercentage of Properties on the Market with Price Reductions, Inventory Levels, and Days on Market Trends. These are just a few examples of the hundreds of powerful, insightful market statistics that give you an edge on your competition.

How Do We Do It?

People ask us all the time, how do we get our real-time data? The answer is simple, but revolutionary. Altos Research monitors millions of properties on the market to provide the most comprehensive database of current real estate market data. So, while other data sources rely on months' old data, before letting you know the state of the market 'after the fact,' Altos provides a clear window to what is happening in the market right now, even as we speak.

I am sure you'll try this out - at least once and see if it is helpful to you or not.

Your comments/suggestions are welcome.

I have joined the blog-a-day blogathon for next 30 days. This is day 14 of the 30-day-challenge.

In these 30 days, what better could it be to share something either I learned from some of the ActiveRainers or some other resource online and share it with the group?

At times, I may not know where and how I learnt about the websites and may not be able to give due credit to someone who informed me about that, but I still want to Thank all of them who contributed to my knowledge which I plan to share.

I am trying to use different field each day - and have now more than 30 such websites. Will I continue after 30 days? Let's see - first things first- I want to completed this 30-day challenge. I am trying to avoid some of the more familiar websites and focusing on some that may not be known to most of you - and still, yes, useful.

You can create a free account on many of these websites and some of them may have some minimal subscription fees. I am sure, these websites will help you in your business - one way or another.

(Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with any of these websites not do I derive any income from any of these sites - except that I do subscribe to some of these services. Please use  them at your own risk - and let me tell you, I have used them and did not find it 'risky'.)

Look out for the next in series - Useful Websites #15 - and it will be...

This research website and their data tend to pop-up in a lot of places. I haven't thought about putting it on my own website though which is where we would want the most reliable source. Appreciate your input.

Praful, let me give you a FREE tip and suggestion - this information is available to ANY agent subscribing to a MLS Board. I perform these reports monthly for my 6 parish (county) area. It takes a little time, but the data that this service provides is being pulled from some MLS source I would imagine. Save the money and simply run the reports yourself.
