Speechless Sunday ~ Asheville Style Mists

By

Big mists over the mountains this morning. As I sat by the window working on a post for my blog, sheet-after-sheet  of low-flying clouds mixed with sprinkles enveloped the landscape. Then...suddenly a movement of another sort...and very close by.  It was just for a second, mind you, and I didn't know if it was a deer,  a bear, a raccoon...

I grabbed my camera and took this shot (below) ...And now I am smiling when I ask you: " How many turkeys can hide in the mists on a mountain path in September?

janeAnne - Great photo. I hope to one day have such a view.  While I live in n. GA and have lots of wildlife, I long for the mountains.

What a beautiful morning and what a treat to see the wild turkeys right out your window.  I was in the Northern NC mountains last weekend and am still marveling at the beauty.  Luckily I have two more trips planned this month.  I doubt that I will see any wild turkeys, but who knows.

janeAnne,

I'm counting 9 turkeys in your photo, but know many more lurk behind the mist.  When I visit my dad's 2,000 acre ranch in Texas (20 miles near Pres. Bush's ranch), we also see lots of wild turkeys...

I surprised you saw them before you heard them... they can be such noisey little creatures!

Cherise~

I counted nine, too. We have a batch of wild turkeys on the mountain. Mom and Pop and 7 chicks seems to be the usual number...

Ruth~

There's no mistaking that gobble-gobble sound...but these wild turkeys were as quiet as the mists!

JaneAnne the turkeys are plentiful this year, I too always try to get a shot of them.   Hopefully the mist did not hang around.

Have a great week.

JaneAnne - They were fortunate to be in your landscape.  Had they been in my neighbor's, one of them would have had the name, "Dinner."  I'm laughing at Mike Jone's "Turkeys In The Mist."
