Just because the summer is over doesn't mean the state parks are shutting down, some of the best sight seeing happens during the glorious fall foliage season. Here are a few things to do and places to go, all a short distance from Lincoln New Hampshire.

Franconia Notch State Park has endless adventures for your family, from Cannon Mountain's Aerial Tramway to miles of hiking trails to the Flume Gorge and everything in between!

Hiking

There are miles and miles of hiking trails in and around Franconia Notch State Park, including a portion of the Appalacian Trail.

Recreation Path An 8 mile recreation path for bicycles and pedestrians that runs the length of the park from the Flume Gorge to just north of Echo Lake.
Boise Rock This great glacial erratic has been a part of the history and folklore of Franconia Notch for generations.
Profile Lake The spring-fed headwaters of the Pemigewasset River, below the former profile of the Old Man. Fly-fishing only.
Old Man Museum Free museum dedicated to the Old Man of the Mountain at the base of the Tram.
New England Ski Museum Free museum at the base of the Tram, rich with the history of skiing in America.

If you would rather enjoy a tourist attraction that doesn't require a hike? How about Clark's Trading post they will be open for their famous bear shows until the Columbus day weekend.

Really lazy and want to stay in the car and enjoy the views from the comfort and warmth of the climate controlled environment of your four wheels?

Take a trip up the Kanc!

The Kancamagus national designated scenic highway is a favorite trip with several look out points to stop for a photo opportunity...and when you are on the other side you'll arrive in North Conway an outlet store shopping mecca.

So whether you want to stretch your legs or relax in the passenger seat there is something for everyone in the White mountain to explore or be entertained by. All the above attractions , hikes and points of interest are in or boarder on Lincoln New Hampshire...the Home of Loon Mountain ski resort...but that is next season!!

With 50 restaurants to choose from...indoor pools & recreation centers, Zip line tours, apple picking and a whole host of other activities there is never a dull moment in the White mountains of New Hampshire.

I absolutely LOVE New Hampshire!  My first visit to New Hampshire in 1985 was a two week camping trip throughout the White Mountains.  New Hampshire is absolutely one of the most beautiful states!  I lived up in Peterborough for 3 years.  Life situations took me from New Hampshire and I now live in Virginia.  If I could move back there - I would!

Steve:

In my opinion, the prime time of the year for your area is right around the corner. I have some of my best photos and memories from Fall sight seeing at Franconia State Park and all around the Kancamangus Highway. It is absolutely breath taking to see the autumn colors there.

Jackie...At the entrance of Franconia Notch is the Flume...I have to take a quick hike there and take some fall photos, that is one of my favorite spots and is only a couple of miles from my office.

Charles , the State does a wonderful job with the Notch as a state park , and with Cannon Mountain being a state owned ski area as well. We really have some wonderful Federal & State owned lands here to enjoy.
