Most every city has a restaurant or two that everyone knows about and loves. In Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of our favorites is Coney I-Lander. According to the Internet, a man named Christ Economou came to Tulsa, Oklahoma from Texas in 1926 and opened the city's first Coney I-Lander. I believe you could order one of their hot dogs with everything for about 5 cents originally. Today a couple of coney's, a bag of chips and a drink will run you just under 5 bucks.
One thing that everyone loves (besides the Coney's) is unscrambling the daily quote. This is a saying that is written on the board with mixed up letters. While you're dining, it is fun to watch the other patrons to see them working on the puzzle.
The next time you are in Tulsa, Oklahoma, be sure to stop by Coney Islander and enjoy a couple of famous Coneys! They're one of my favorite lunch and/or Saturday treats!
