FBISD Middle School # 14

I am hearing many concerns about the entry to the new FBISD Middle School #14 that is scheduled to open in fall 2011.  I can honestly say that I am very concerned as well.  The traffic in the morning is already backed up on Plantation, almost to Quarterpath with those going out to Harlem Rd.  There has been mis-communication with the county and the school district over who is responsible for the turn in to the school and a sidewalk for the children to walk.  Busing will be provided for all residents, as walking will not be very safe! If the road is not widened there is going to be a major back up of traffic and it will be a dangerous situation. Visibility is already impaired because of the levy coming into Pecan Grove and I can tell you from experience people FLY over that levy--they have totally ignored the stop sign on Plantation and Deerifield which is the 1st stop sign on the Pecan Grove side of the levy. Or in some cases they take off from the stop sign in order to intentionally FLY over the levy.  In my opinion, this is not a very good location for a school of any kind! It is too late to do anything about it, so we will all just have to figure out how to make it safe before someone is killed! I would like to have them start with making another lane  for traffic going into the school, and hopefully an officer to keep traffic flowing, then secondly some speed bumps on both sides of the levy. The biggest concern is the safety of our children!
