Tell Me What You Want - give me an assignment!

Mariana Wagner has written a series of posts giving us suggestions on things to write about. This is a wonderful primer that I really think everyone should save and refer back to as needed. But what I want to know is - what do you want to know about my area?

It's no secret that I write for potential clients. Those faceless, no commenting people who are lurking on our posts just to read what we have to share. But what do you think they really want to know?

  • I've written market reports.
  • I've given you information on Fly Fishing.
  • I've blogged endlessly about the green movement in Colorado.
  • I've told you about a few businesses in the area.
  • Pictures of cows and horses - covered.
  • Historical buildings - I'll do more.
  • Local events - you seen that too!

What else can I do for you? Tell me what you want! Give me an assignment! What am I not telling you that you would rally like to know?

I'm going to start the ball rolling and ask some of the Rainers here to tell me more about the areas they cover.

  • Florida Rainers - What do beach houses cost? What can I expect for the money? If I buy a house near the beach can I just walk over from my house? What's it like to have thousands of sun bathers in your yard?
  • New England Rainers - Can you tell me more about the history of the area you cover? Can I buy a historical home if I wanted one? How cold are the winters? (All I know is from the Weather Channel and movies)
  • Nebraska and Wyoming Rainers - Where do people work in Wyoming? What or Who is the major source of employment? Is everybody a rancher?
  • Arizona Rainers - Is it true that all the new construction in Arizona over the recent past is changing the climate? Are all houses stucco or adobe?
  • Kansas Rainers - Is all of Kansas flat? What do you do for recreation in Kansas?
  • Hawaii Rainers - Oh, heck tell me anything you want. Give me a virtual vacation!

This is an idea that I have been tossing around in my head for some time now ... State By State questions from out-of-staters to Localism bloggers. Yay! (p.s. There is only one "n" in my name ...) ;)

Mariana, Geez, I'm sorry. It seems somebody is always messing around with the letters in your name.

I've got an assignment for you if you get the time. Tell us more about the Olympic  Training Center? I've never been - do they give tours? Or how about the bug on the highway, I've never done that either. Would this be stuff that would interest your kids?

Excellent thought Dena. Once the state-by-state thing is rolling, I would even extend the idea to distinct areas within states, as we both know how different Summit County is from Pueblo, for example.

Great post Dena.  I'm working on one for the New Orleans area since the anniversary of Katrina is only 2 days away.

Lisa, that would be great! I'd love to see a post about the old historic stuff. Did it survive?

The French Quarter is fine, great, busy as ever, as is the downtown area.  Most areas close to the river did not suffer any flooding, but we still have a long way to go.

OK, Dena - to someone not familiar with Colorado - where's Pueblo? Is it a ski center that we typically imagine CO to be? If I had someone looking for a second home, why would I recommend Pueblo to them?
