Last night's appointment was fun. My customer was looking for a new carpet for her basement in Larchmont, NY. She found me on Angieslist.com where she and her husband compared my reviews vs. many others.
I was greeted by a very friendly dog named Winston. Since I was wearing sandals, my feet got a nice bath.
Now finding the carpet for the basement was easy. She wanted a basic berber carpet, on the less expensive side. We found a pattern she liked and while it was neutral, it had both beiges and yellows and went perfect with her pale yellow walls. The price was very reasonable and within her budget.
But, what made this appointment extra interesting was that her 4 year old daughter seemed to take an extra affinity to me. She kept showing me her drawings and following me around as I measured. (She really seemed to like my laser which I use to measure). As I was working through the estimate, she kept distracting me, telling me to "watch this." I have to say, she was quite adorable.
As I was bringing the samples back out to my car, she said, "Are you going home, Debbie?" I told her I would be right back to get the rest of the samples. When I got them, she proceeded to give me a hug. I thought that was the sweetest thing ever.
