Current Number of Homes Active and Under Contract in the Washington DC area:
Here is the breakdown as of September 14th, 2010
In most every sector; the number of homes on the market have increased and the number under contract have decreased from last month. This is however pretty typical for early September.
The feel on the street is that buyers are out there and they are ready to buy. Interest rates are still incredibly low and the DC 1st Time Home Buyer Tax Credit is still in effect.
The next 3 weeks will tell the tale if the fall market will be a success or a bust.
Here are the number of homes on the market including the number of homes that were taken Off (EXPIRED) the market last week.

It is important to see the number of homes taken "Off" the market. While many of these homes will return to the marketplace a week or two; seeing a listing "expire" means that the seller and agent thought or expected the home to be sold by now.
