School District 742 of Saint Cloud Minnesota
A state and nationally recognized leader in innovative education, St. Cloud Area School District 742 has a total of 1,589 full and part-time employees, including 782 teachers, 29 administrators and 778 support staff. District 742 is the 17th largest school district in Minnesota serving a population of 96,660 people. The largest school district in Central Minnesota, District 742 works to ensure the education of nearly 9,500 Saint Cloud area students each school day.
According to the ST CLOUD AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT 742 ANNUAL REPORT ON CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT (released in September 2009) the mission of District 742 is to prepare all learners, in partnership with their families and the community, to live and contribute within a changing and diverse world.
A full 70% of St. Cloud Area School District teachers have advanced degrees. The St. Cloud School District also offers an extensive staff development program. The staff development program provides employees with opportunities for support, growth and renewal.
District 742 has an alternative learning school, an early childhood center, a community education center, eight elementary schools, two junior highs (6-8), and two high schools (9-12). The 2 high schools (Tech and Apollo) offer an array of AP courses and multiple opportunities to prepare their students for post-secondary education. Students are encouraged to participate in extra activities including athletic, scholarly and fine arts to round out their college applications. Every classroom in the St. Cloud School District has one or more computers fully linked to the Internet.
School Link Welcome Center for St. Cloud Area School District 742 offers enrollment, placement, community info, assistance in completing registration forms, pre-admission testing, information about school programs and activities, supply lists, and links to community resources. The Welcome Center is located at 3015 3rd Street North St. Cloud, Mn. 56303. They are open June and July Mon - Thurs 7:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 7:30am to 12:00PM, and during the school year August - May their hours are Monday - Thurs 8:00am to 6:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm.
