Marketing Should Equal Name Recognition

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Realty ~ 512.750.6899

marketingThere is room for all types of personalities in the real estate profession!  Some agents are fun loving and appeal to a certain sector of buyers.

Others are more serious by nature and appeal to another sector.  Some agents are chameleons and can appeal to most all sectors.  We want to make sure the way in which we market ourselves results in name recognition.  Are you thinking outside the box and creating marketing that sets you apart from your colleagues?

Our own Craig Rutman in ActiveRain, in my book, is one funny man and a marketing genius!  If you follow his posts you will remember to refer him if you have a client planning a move to the Apex/Raleigh/Wake County area!

Another marketing genius is Kulula Air, a South African low-fare airline. They began a marketing campaign that is an eye catcher and a Kulula Airdeparture from their competition!  One of their Boeing aircraft is named "Flying 101" and is entirely covered with details and funny remarks about the plane.  The desired result is to be remembered and they get an A+ in this department!  I love the caption "the big cheese"!  Check out their blog:

Really good reminder to those of us that like to market. We need to set ourselves apart and work on our branding continuously.  Great job!!  I love that plane. Funny!

Hi Dorie -- Sometimes...you just know good marketing when yous see it, you don't even have to think about it, analyze it, it just works.  I think probably less than 2% of real estate advertising would classify as such so this field is ripe with opportunity.

Dorie:  Congratulations on your Feature post!  It's about time!  And I understand your marketing and branding message.  It IS important.  Jane Peters and I have had this discussion before ... and I've related to her that I think for a lender, the image needs to stay pretty lacking of any Barnum and Bailey.  People seem to have lost their patience and sense of humor with my brethren ... and rightfully so in many cases.  Finding that right balance, appeal, and image is important.  I want to be remembered ... but for the right things ...

Fantastic post and topic, Dorie!

Gene

Hi Tammie,

It is important to find an area or a group to target and then create something to make them remember you!

Good evening Gene,

Thank you! I agree as a lender your marketing needs to be like what you do..relevant, educational, honest..people have lost their patience and want some good solid answers and explanations in today's lending environment! I want to be remembered also but for the right things!

So many agents want to be the "purple cow", I even see agents with it in their marketing- Here is a hint:if you need to say your marketing is purple cow, it isn't LOL, Don't be the purple cow, be your own Nike Swoosh! Revolutionize your marketing so that you are the natural answer to their problem. Great post!

I have never heard of that airline. I like Southwest for its irreverant songs on some flights.
