My great, great uncle, President William B. McKinley was assassinated on this date in 1901, and Theodore Roosevelt took over the presidency.
Although I'm a descendant of William McKinley, I still feel Theodore Roosevelt was the greatest president of the 20th century!
There's a reason he's on Mt. Rushmore!

That is pretty dang cool that you are a descendant of McKinley! You MUST have some great stories to tell? Would love to read about them. :)
Of course TR would be considered one of the great presidents of the past century...your great great uncle would not have been because he was the last president of the 19th century....

My father, born in 1890, always remembered how he heard that "McKinley's shot". Just like I remember the murder of JRK.
Ian, You failed to mention the lady's name was Clara Barton. Founder of the American Red Cross.
