What is a QR Code? According to Wikpedia: A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with camera, and smartphones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.
We (@ Homes Realty Group) are the only Real Estate company in Huntsville using QR Codes...we like to be forward thinkers! (Shameless Plug!) The QR Codes are certainly increasing the traffic on my website. Views are up significantly on homes that have the QR Code name riders. The numbers are in, and it's working!
The cost for a QR code is free. This is such an easy application to use! Google "QR Code Generator", enter your text or URL. It's that simple! Be sure to ask your sign person if you need a high resolution QR Code.
I then download my QR Code and send it off to my sign company (Jack Pratt) where they make my sign riders. All told, I have $12 in each rider. I also buy a URL for each listing. I am now using .info. The cost is less than a dollar and it makes complete sense! When the consumer scans the QR Code, they are taken directly to my website and we are able to track the traffic from there. I've also seen several business cards with QR Codes.
You can download scanner apps for free for your smart phones. Droid, IPhone and Blackberry all offer free scanner apps.
I see an Active Rain QR Code scavenger hunt in the near future!
