“Endless Summer” takes on a whole new meaning!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Summer goes on and on in Newnan GADespite some controversy as to who uttered the actually quotation, it is believed by many that Mark Twain once said that “everybody talks about the weather but nobody ever does anything about it.”

And while weather is generally a boring topic reserved for awkward conversational moments, this year has been rather remarkable when considering meteorological anomalies in Newnan Georgia.

The calendar is melting away, but the temperatures are not giving in to the seasonal change. And although the equinox is less than a week away, we will be experiencing afternoon high temperatures in the 90’s for the foreseeable future.

I like summer as much as anybody, but enough is enough. We have experienced more weeks, more, days, and more hours above the 90 degree make than any other year in recorded weather history.

The trees are in distress, the greens at the golf course are dead, and temperaments are rising correspondingly with temperatures.

Fall can’t come soon enough!

All weather is local. All I can say is lucky you, because it is getting NIPPY here in NY! I am in a hooded sweatshirt awaiting on hot tea!

Richard, We had more 90 plus days than any recent history in the Cincinnati area, but thankfully it is cooling.  Highs now in upper 70s and 80s, and already seeing the occassional leaf change, soybeans harvested...Fall is coming!

Shouldn't be too long now. The latest cool snaps will soon part the waves of the seasons. By January, we will be longing for warmer temps...

Richard:

It is coming soon enough for us in New England. The air is getting that crispness although the trees have not turned colors yet. But, we also had an unusually hot summer this year with water bans in most of our towns.  So, the brown grass is everywhere.

It probably isn't a good sign, when I say we've only had twenty or so 100 degree days. The end of summer is the end of brutal weather, and the beginning of football season. Perhaps my favorite time of year.

Send the heat to the northwest, Richard. We've had more gray days under 60 this summer than anyone here needs or wants.

Richard,

I, for one, can't wait for the change of seasons this year. My lawn is looking forward to a refreshing quench too.

Here in Mesa AZ our last 100 degree day on average is Oct 3. We had a little cooling last week that made us think of cooler weather but this weekend will see 106. I am so ready for walking, picnicking, gardening.

Richard - but the overnight lows are in the 60's and it makes sleeping sooooooo much better. And with lower humidity golf if enjoyable again.

Up here in the Pacific Northwest you can feel the shift to fall. We've had cloudy or foggy mornings that burn off in the afternoon with temperatures peaking at around 70 degrees. The last couple of days have been more gray than anything with some much needed rain. I'm such a wimp when it comes to heat. I'd be pretty much useless if it were in the 90's everyday.

Richard, being that I am in SF I will quote Mark Twain as well, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in SF". If anyone has spent a summer in SF they understand that statement

This was how I felt last year.  Thankfully, our temps are coming down, thought I believe we still have a few hot days in store.
