You will also probably think of "no back, back, back, back order slips" or "6006 I-45 North between Tidwell and Parker". Isn't that amazing that I didn't even have to look that up, I simply have heard these sayings over the years again and again.
Let me tell you a little about Mattress Mack otherwise known as Jim McIngvale. The owner of Gallery Furniture, Mr. McIngvale is an icon in our area. Not only has he built a thriving business from the ground up, he also is a community philanthropist who has given back to this area time and time again.
Mr. McIngvale started Gallery Furniture back in 1981 and has grown the business into a local destination! If you live anywhere in the Houston area, you have heard of Gallery Furniture and Mattress Mack!
Yesterday Mr. McIngvale spoke at the Texas Association of REALTORS® state convention closing luncheon. I had the honor of sitting at his table and enjoyed hearing him speak. His story in inspirational as he shared the secrets of his success.
What I heard him say over and over was that his customer's and employees were his number one priority! If you get that right, everything else falls into place. I was quite moved as he shared the story of his warehouse burning to the ground in May of 2009 with over 10 million dollars worth of inventory inside. He told how employees began showing up late that night to help out where ever they could.
As a real estate professional, isn't that what we are all about as well? If we take care of our clients, everything will fall into place. Regardless of fancy marketing, high tech guizmos, it is all about the PEOPLE that we serve.
The message I took away is simple ~ care about the people you SERVE! It truly is about serving others. Thank you Mack for speaking at our convention and thank you for sharing your story and your message.
