Must know tip for buyers searching for a Hendersonville NC home

If you're searching for a home in Hendersonville NC you probably base your search on price, then on the number of bedrooms. What you may not know is that septic systems are used in every county in North Carolina.  More than 50% of homes have them. Now, this may not seem like big news, right?  Bear with me...

First, What is a septic system?

Septic systems are used when sewage treatment plants are not accessible. They safely treat and dispose of wastewaters produced in the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry.

The septic tank is a watertight concrete box about 9' x 5'  tall, and is buried in the ground just outside the home. The tank is usually precast from reinforced concrete and can be purchased from concrete manufacturers. While typically designed with a 1,000-gallon liquid capacity, the size of the tank is legally determined by the number of bedrooms in the home.

Why does this have anything to do with my home search?  I'm required to list a home based on the septic permit.  Some homes in Henderson County only have a 2-bedroom septic permit, but have a 3rd room known as the “den/office” with closet.

For example:

If you’re in California - searching for a home in Hendersonville using the "3+ bedroom" search feature, you would completely miss out on a great community known as Haywood Knolls – because most of the 350 homes in this community only have a two bedroom septic permit.  All have a 3rd room known as the office/den space.

Ok; now that I know about this, HOW DO I FIX IT?

If you’re looking for a three bedroom home, make your search "2+ bedrooms" and look for comments that reflect “office/den”, or call me direct, and I’ll email you all homes that meet your must-haves and budget.  A REALTOR® will save you time and money in your home search!
