I've been VERY busy this past week. I am looking around my office and it looks like a paperwork explosion and I've got files all over my desk and my work table. But truth be told, some of the other areas of my office were starting to look a little cluttered too, because in my focus on getting stuff done and meeting deadlines, I just wasn't paying attention to my surroundings.
So I stayed in my office late tonight to straighten up. I just needed to do something about the aesthetics in my office so I could be comfortable in my office surroundings while I get my work done.
Well, I decided to straighten out the office bookshelf. It sits right across from my workstation, and there were books just sitting scattered every which way, anywhere on top of the ones that were standing in rows.
It's our miniature lending library! We keep a selection of interesting reads on that shelf: money management, biographies, books on relationships, parenting, healthy eating, home repair/decor, and a selection of Christian resources, and its suprising how many of our visitors will ask to borrow something. But it wasn't looking quite so inviting with the books going every which way.
So, I pulled all the extra books off the stacks and thinned out some kids books and put them in the cabinet in the reception area where we have stuff for customers kids to keep occupied with. And while I was re-organizing the bookcase, I found a book called "Simplify Your Life" by Marcia Ramsland.
Hmmm... could be time to do a re-read.
It's only a small little corner of my world, but it's a start. Anyway, I feel like I did something.
Now, doesn't that look a little bit better?
