There are so many great reasons to live in Traverse City, MI

There are so many great reasons to live in Northern Michigan! Aside from its unparalleled beauty and thousands of lakes and rivers, Northern Michigan consistently makes the list of major publications for its many virtues.

Just recently, AOL rated Mackinac Island amongst the 10 best American islands in the whole country.   This island gem is located at the tip of the lower peninsula, accessible by a short ferry ride from either the upper or lower peninsula.  It's rustic charm is a throwback to days of old, where horse drawn carriages and bicycles are the only vehicles you'll see  on it's cobblestone roads.  Filled with great restaurants, antiques, collectibles, and of course, fudge shops, as well as homes and hotels built in the Victorian style, it is a tourist mecca.  Mackinac Island is just a two hour journey from Traverse City, a trip my wife and I make at least once each year, just for the day.

Also in recent news, Bon Appetit magazine has ranked Traverse City amongst the top foodie towns in the United States.  From our many farmers markets to our many independent restaurants, from celebrity chefs/residents to incredible foodie events like the Epicurian Classic or Paella in the Park, foodies from across the country flock to little Traverse City.

For a town of maybe 30,000, Traverse City has the charm of a small town, yet the cultural diversity and sophistication of a much larger urban area.  Life is lived a bit more leisurely, and folks still wave hello to passers-by.  If you'd like to live in this amazing area, please visit my website, http://www.ChuckGollay.com to view all the listings.  I made the move from Chicago over five years ago, and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

Amen! Traverse City is wonderful. Like you say, the great combination of small town with big city features.
