The College Reporter
While in the office I have heard one of my interns speaking about decorating her dorm room. She mentioned that she had a lot of empty wall space in her room that she wanted to cover, so the room would not look so empty. She stated that she would find it very cool if she could find something besides paintings, posters or picture frames to cover the space. I thought this would be a great opportunity for her to get out and search the stores to find what is new and can be applied to her walls but easily removable, should she decide to move out. That was her assignment for the weekend and I was interested in seeing what she could come up with.
When she returned to my office a week later she brought with her pictures of her newly decorated wall space and the idea that came along with it. Stickers have become the new affordable artwork that is being widely embraced by the college students. In many convenient stores like Target, Kohls, Ikea and HomeGoods sticker art is being sold by the sheet for wall decoration. My intern stated that there were a variety of selections for the bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen. Art can be found in creative quotes such as "Live, Laugh, Love" or "Kiss Me Goodnight" and also in shapes or designs in various colors. She mentioned one bonus was application was easy and removal was even easier because the stickers can be reapplied. Another bonus, her greatest encouragement, is that the stickers are very affordable with prices ranging from $10-$25.
So now my intern is content with her dorm room and ready to add sticker art to the living area and kitchen!
