Consumers & REALTORS Alert More Internet Scams In Real Estate Revealed

There are many new and existing Internet companies that are offering to cut REALTORS out of transactions to save you money.  BUNK..  The difference is that there are not only legal consequences to selling your home without proper documentation, representation, and disclosure, but there are the emotional complications of a real estate transaction.  Does a buyer really think that the world is full of honest sellers that will deal with them fairly?  Does a seller really think that everyone who they meet on the internet has good intentions? They let them in to their house not knowing a thing about them maybe they are there to see what neat stuff they have so then can stop by later and steal it all or worse do harm to the seller.

We the REALTORS have been providing the consumers with an awesome FREE information on our site at REALTOR.com for years.  The folks that are touting these advertising sites are just looking to tap into our industry and sell either the consumber something or sell our own interested buyers and sellers back to us.  Usually these sites either sell a subscription, advertising, or worse they sell the consumers information to outside vendors.  No they are not HERO's of the Internet information highway.  They are just another venue that can and will confuse the consumers on the real issues at hand.

Most offer to give agents FREE listings on their site and then they capture the leads and sell them to the agents or a third party lead generation system that will charge you upwards of 30% or monthly fee subscription to get the lead your property generated.  Where else can you take something of value (a listed home) and sell it back to the person who owns it (the contracted firm) and charge them for the privilege. Pretty smart cookies don't you think?  You all might want to think about that next time you post your properties on one of these sites Sure you might generate some additional exposure but at what cost.  They will also hound you to death for an UPGRADE to get you to the top of their search engine or site. try to sell you banner ads, or worse contact your consumers or give their info to other companies.

Yes, their PR campaigns to the consumer is to cut out all us money grubbing REALTORS but their real underlying goal is to make big bucks and never touch the transaction. They have no responsibility, liability, or fiduciary for protecting the consumer. They have no code of ethics to work under. They have no education in transactional real estate.  So there you have it they are just in it to make money not to save the world from all those REALTORS who work full time to protect the consumer as best we can.
