Heroes
We have a dearth of heroes in today’s world. Today I present you with some real life heroes.
Annie, now 80 plus years old, was dispossessed of her retirement home by an unscrupulous contractor who took some $260,000, gutted her house and ran. HE is certainly not a hero!
But now - almost 10 years later, there is a movement to rescue her house from deterioration, fix it up, and move her back in.
One of the heroes is Gary. He is the same age as Annie. He had been a pastor. Then a contractor. Now retired.
He took this project on as his own. This became his job. He was there every week day, overseeing, coordinating, and working.
Some projects were his own. Like all the trim, and doors, and shelving. Annie wanted real wood. And real wood she got. All hand burnished by Gary. Take a look at the video.
Featured are also some tilers. They volunteered to put tile on the floor in two of the bathrooms. A long, tedious job. Especially on a Saturday. Especially after working all week.
The young guy on the tile saw captured my heart, and my admiration. He said, “I am unemployed. Do you know how demoralizing it is to sit around all day? Let me work, for free, during the week.” He worked on the siding. He did painting. He worked on the ADA approved ramp for when Annie will need a wheelchair. In today’s video he is cutting tile.
One of the true heroes of today...
