The Widow - Part 13

On the Saturday I shot this video I was really busy.

Didn’t make it until late in the afternoon. The workers had all gone home for the day. So the video ended up being a recap of what had been accomplished up to the day.

The hillside - once over run with blackberries, was now full of ferns and rhododendrons. There was an erosion barrier at the bottom of the hill.

The driveway was beautifully paved, the cement curbs had been put in. The wheelchair ramp was installed for the day when Annie would need it.

The outside was all painted. So was the inside. John (the chief of police) wanted to do the first coat painting. He had a good paint sprayer, and like most guys, he loved the feeling of power, accomplishment and - well - MESS that a fully loaded paint sprayer delivers!

The fine painting - outside and inside trim, was done by many people. Some gave a day, others a few hours. John’s daughter wanted to finish paint one room. She organized her friends and they painted the room they had selected.

The gutters have a fun story. Gary (the retired contractor) was in a weekly Bible Study. In the group was a couple who owned a gutter installation business. He asked them if they would look at the gutters, and replace or repair some that were banged or sagging. They next time he was on site - all the gutters had been removed and replaced with brand new gutters, professionally installed!

The video highlights the pressure washing that had been done. Also the various plantings around the house and the grounds.

I had told you the story of the sprinkler system before. It was installed in stages. Here is the evidence when it is almost finished.

The firepit was cleared. It is right by this stream. What a beautiful place! I know it would never be allowed today, but this was put in many years ago.

The alarm was a fun story. It is the latest technology. Annie wears what amounts to a necklace. She can fully arm all the doors and windows at night with one button. There are sensors throughout the house. If she falls, all she has to do is push a button and the microphones are activated. She is connected to help. She can speak and they will hear her and send help. The alarm company provided it at their cost of replacement only.

At this point the project is nearing completion!
