Yesterday was a perfect Saturday in Lake Charles!
I joined friends in a visit to the Almost Alice Exhibit at Historic City Hall and then went for a leisurely walk on the new Lakefront Promenade and Marina having completed my "exercise walk" on the same path much earlier.
The Almost Alice exhibit inspired us to go in search of our Alice in Wonderland books and plan to return to see the marvelous work of Maggie Taylor again. As a result, this is probably one of those "will be back" exhibits, especially since I want my friends to see the "Great Fire of 1910" exhibit that will be available through the end of the year. The Almost Alice exhibit will be open until October 23rd.
Photos of the Almost Alice exhibit are "strictly prohibited" so make plans to visit!
The new marina was booked to capacity with some exceptional motor trawlers, sport's boats and sailboats. The enthusiasm for the marina and the new "digs" along the Lake, such as the geese sculpture, was quite contagious and for good reason. As evidenced during this morning's walk, the Promenade is going to be one of those places residents constantly return to visit.
While I opted to cheer LSU on to victory in my Margaret Place neighborhood rather than make the official-ribbon cutting, the newspaper reported a great turnout for the grand opening.
