365 things to do in Worcester county - walk for a cure to end Juvenile Diabetes in Worcester. Ok, so I've never done this before and I am really excited about the walk for a cure to end Juvenile Diabetes. I have donated before but never participated.
So may be I am a bit selfish, since I have diabetes myself. May be I'm a bit self centered. But when you think about it, 80 years ago, when someone was diagnosed with diabetes, it was a death sentence. Now we live with this disease.
But life is not easy, it is a see-saw on high and low sugars and neither one is fun. When I have low sugar, I have sweats, shakes, weakness. Trust me no fun. If I don't get some sugar into my system, I can go into a coma or worse (haven't happened yet). If my sugar is too high, I feel lethargic, very thirsty, run to the bathroom and if the sugar keeps being high, I can go into diabetic coma ( luckily, haven't happened either).
So why am I explaining this aspect of my life, because I want to give you just a glimse into my life as a diabetic. Many times we are asked to contribute to a cause but we have no idea what it feels like to live or die from a disease.
I am really excited to join the Wall Street Walkers team in Worcester on October 3, 2010. I am inviting everyone to show support for this worthwhile cause. Please donate, even if it's a dollar because as my father always said (Russian Proverb) Better to have 100 friends than $100. Let's see if he's right....again :I
