March Healthcare West, is working with the March Joint Powers Authority to build a medical facility at March and they plan on opening their doors to the new medical center by the end of 2011. The facility is called March LifeCare, and there are also plans for several medical facilities and possibly retail stores and hotels. If all goes well, the complex could bring in as many as 7,200 new jobs to the area.
This could very well help property owners and developers whose land is not on the base but in the surrounding area. Tons of properties, mostly in Moreno Valley and Perris, are currently for sale for commercial use. The majority is zoned for warehouses or large industrial buildings. The trickle down affect will be huge for office buildings that sell or lease smaller facilities to Doctors and other medical operations. Doctors and others in the medical field have been closely watching and are taking note. Many are considering relocating and want to be close to the medical center.
Some buyers are now offering double for properties than they were back in 2008-2009 and seem to be a bargain even at that, compared to the peak. The project got underway last month when demolition work began on old base buildings. It is exciting to think that in about one year this new facility will be opening its doors and helping to bring in more business's with it. Walgreens, Lowe's and Ross already have huge distribution centers in the Moreno Valley/Perris area and I think over the next few years more will follow.
With the Huge Skechers project currently underway on the East side of town, and all that is going on on the Southwest side of town, Moreno Valley may soon shed her "Bedroom Community" tag and merge as the Big Dog of Inland Empire job creation. Exciting times for the city my friends... exciting times!
