How do you stay inspired and recharge in this market?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX

Business Coaching ... I just came back from our Mastermind event with Buffini and Company and I feel so much better and so inspired. I guess that it's so easy to become myopic in this market and look at the losses but now as I have my steady stream of wins offsetting these losses I feel it seems that it's two steps forward only one step back. I would love to know how other people recharge in this market.

I Personally do 3 things .... the first is listen to inspirational stories in the morning on YouTube like

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngzyhnkT_jY

or

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA

2nd I journal daily to get perspective because I can get so focused on today and not worry about tomorrow

3rd I create an accomplishment list from the Outlook Calendar and look at all I did this year.

I sometimes forget this biz isn't about house, it's about families and homes. What do you all think?

Keep focused and go back to the basics.  Retouch all your past customers, send birthday cards, Christmas cards, newsletters throughout the years.  I just had someone I sold a house to 5 years ago contact me and said "Come List My House"  I am calling you because you never forgot me and constantly kept in touch.  One of those calls will recharge you for quite some time knowing the systems I have in place are working.

Tony - I wish that I was able to make it to the Mastermind that you just went to. It looked like a great program.  I have found that being on Active Rain has kept my energy up when things happen that frustrate and disappoint me.  I do love motivational books and tapes, although I haven't used that in a while.  The youtube thing sounds interesting.  Are there several to choose from on there?

Sometimes a good seminar can recharge the batteries.  After a great spring, it was a lousy summer, and i had to fight to stay focused.   Thankfully things are finally picking up!

Tony - I've been inspired by ActiveRain to actually follow through and completely revamp my business plan.  I've been working on it diligently and sorting my goals and objectives.  I am brainstorming to find ways to tap into my strengths and ways to overcome weaknesses (cold calling, asking for referrals).  I've made AR an integral part of my business day as it is the single best thing I've done to date with regard to networking and referrals.  I also try to keep things in perspective by remembering the important stuff - my healthy husband and children, my great marriage and wonderful relationship with my kids and God, and my great friends.  Everything else is just gravy!

Hey Tony!  BTW, as a former physical educator and basketball player myself (at 5'3"!), I had seen J Mac's story and am always moved by that incredible moment.  It wasn't just his story - but the community's.  It's a GREAT way to start the day - thanks for sharing.

I was wondering.....I heard Buffini in one of his CD's say he journals.  What does that accomplish?  Is that something my coach will ask of me?

Love the youtube idea. I have never been much of a journal/ diary guy but it cant hurt to keep yourself focused on the future.

-I get a daily motivation/ inspirational quote emailed to me from http://www.justsell.com/ (its free and comes with very little additional solicitation). On occasion I will take one of the better quotes and share it with my sales team.

-I have also listened to many books on tape from zig zigler to john maxwell. I have a 45 minute commute and I am always dashing between appointments and settlements. I can go through a whole book in a day.

Plenty to choose from on YouTube for inspirational moments and as far as journaling it's been amazing to see the patterns that form...in Dec/Jan/Feb EVERY YEAR I see myself panicking with the market b/c for the last however many years I've been an employee I got a paycheck every two weeks. Journaling also gives you a nice record of what you accomplished something so many of us don't give ourselves credit for. Journaling is a just do it and you'll understand later thing but I've found it to be indispensible!

Well, thanks to the anonymous poster on journaling.  I just have never been one for talking about my feelings/thoughts/concerns let alone writing them down and that aspect truly makes me nervous. It feels tooooooo new agey.

That Jason video is something else.  I own the movie Rudy and I cannot watch it without getting emotional and pumped up at the same time.  This kid however....just awe inspiring!

I think it's important to stay busy. Having a daily schedule to follow is a must! It keeps you from having too much time on your hands. Stay active and always ask yourself "Is there something else I could be doing right now that would help me in my real estate business?" Having a coach can also help a great deal.

Brian Buffini has always told us to journal.  It is good to look forward, but now and them, it is good to look back.  If we had the same struggle last month, or last year, you can go back and see how you dealt with it then.  What did you do to overcome the problem?  History does tend to repeat itself:)  I love to journal.  It brings me to a relaxed state of mind.  If you are a morning person, journal then, if you stay up with the nightowls, evening might work better for you.  Try to fit it in whenever you can.  These things all work, if you let them.  Seminars, if you listen to the speaker, notes every day, if you do them, small groups, when you attend the monthly meetings.  Stay focused, be relentless!

It's a Good Life!
