Not that any of us need help with distractions, but here are some useful items to make your computer life a little more enjoyable and fun:
Vlad Studio: Vlad is a Russian programmer who does amazing work, and in his free time makes really cool wallpapers. These can be downloaded for free from his site, or you can use the companion program to automatically change your desktop on a set timeline (e.g. every hour). A lot of his art is pretty cool, and you can pay to get access to his "high quality" work (which most all his work is high quality anyway) and with that subscription he removes his watermark so you get a full high quality image with no intrusions.
igoogle: I've talked about this before, but this is truly a wonderful website that will change the way you use your homepage. iGoogle is a customizable page from google that you can add your own widgets and fully customize to your hearts content. Every time I open my browser, my homepage is set to google, which is logged in for me. On my page I have blogs that I commonly read, my gmail account preview, calendar preview, and bookmarks. I don't even have book marks on my computer anymore. If you open my browser, only the default bookmarks are the ones that are there. I have everything saved to my igoogle "bookmarks" widget. The reason for this is that anytime I go to another computer, someone else's house, on vacation... All I have to do is log into my google account, and my bookmarks are there, along with everything I really use on a regular basis. This page can be customized however you want it, drag boxes around, change the header image, add content, and of course remove things you don't need. Set it up and you'll want this to be your homepage always.
Wimp: Do you get tired of youtube? Get sucked in for hours or just can't sift through all the junk? Wimp.com posts 5 videos every day. Just for fun, sometimes these are entertaining, cute, informational, thought provoking, but always great videos, and good for a few minutes of distraction when you need relief.
