BE SEATED BEFORE THE MOVIE STARTS.....please

I am in a large movie theater. Got a good seat. The previews have been played, the opening logos came and went and ...the movie has started. I am sitting where I want. I am comfortable and I know that the opening scenes and the first few minutes a lot of times sets up the whole movie...

I am enthralled at this one scene I am watching....when all of a sudden, someone grabs my head and holds onto it. Now, I can see just fine....It is an elderly gentleman who cannot see and he has stumbled onto a chair and before he was to hit the ground, he grabbed a hold of my head. THINK: He used it as a banister...

IF YOU HAVE EVER TRIED TO FIND YOUR WAY IN THE DARK ANYWHERE........IT'S NOT A CAKE-WALK

Now, I am stunned to say the least.

First off, I wear glasses. I have been wearing them since I was seven. You learn at a early age to take care of them or you cannot see. The pair I have now costs $700.00. So, I have a high awareness to protect my glasses and my eyes.

Secondly....I was engrossed in the movie and..... the scene that I was watching lined up with the guy grabbing my head....it was surreal and frightening at the same time....but also very stimulating. THINK: live 3-d. Based on this experience, there is a huge market for this...

Thirdly...I asked the man (whispering) are you are alright? He was wobbling back and forth. I did not know what to expect. Remember, it is dark and while I can see better than him, I cannot see the whole scene. He does not answer me and continues to wobble,...but lets go of my head.

HEY...IF YOU GOT A PROBLEM...USE YOUR OWN HEAD TO FIGURE THINGS OUT

Lastly.....he grabs my head again this time to prevent a full fall. THINK: Deja Vu....combined with heads-up (huge pun intended)...Now I am not going to lie to you. I started laughing and said, sir, let me help you....I loosened his grip from my head to my hands, got up, steadied this man and let him pass me by to get to a seat. Mind you, the movie is playing and I do not know what is going on in the film.

I AM WATCHING A MOVIE AND....AT THE SAME TIME...I'M IN ONE

I watched him get seated and then reflected on the whole episode for a nano-second. I wondered if anyone else was disturbed, if this guy was alright, and.... before I could get an answer, the movie pulled me right back in....

YOU CAN LEARN FROM ANYTHING, ANYWHERE...... AT ANYTIME

To be sitting in a dark room and focused on something and have this happen as I described was very interesting because I got a chance to observe myself and how I perform and react. I gave myself an A for staying focused, not getting distracted, helping someone, and then resuming where I left off..

Life is good and.... is to be lived.....but be seated before the movie starts......pretty please..?

Yikes, $700 for glasses. Do they have night vision optics, is the movie theatre an eerie but lit up green with them on or can you spot listings a week before they happen so you can lasso owners, get your sign on the front lawn, nailed to a tree before the rest of the herd wearing "R"'s?

Richie, didn't you know that OSHA requires hard hats and steel toed boots for movie watching/making these days?

Andrew.....You crack me up. Good stuff. Since you brought it up.......they are tri-focals with anti this and that extras plus name brand frames that in my opinion shouldn't cost more than $200 tops. This business.... since I can remember, always charged excessive fees. Boy, would I love for this industry bubble to burst....

Glenn...official notice was given (and acted out) on me this day........I would have preferred a good old-fashioned flyer in the mail....or a sign posted on the door to the theater....not responsible for eye-poking, head grabbing or..?

Richie, I hope that the actual movie was as lively as your prequel.  It was a comedy / drama also I'd guess.

Kevin....it is as you say. I had a good time.....got more than the ticket value depending on how you look at it. Remember, at some-point I laughed, so that makes it a bargain in my book......Best Kevin

Richie...I wholeheartedly agree...I think the doors should be shut when the movie starts and no one else gets in...Just my 2 cents...Enjoy the day.

Ernie...I hear you

Of course in today's economy where every buck counts, finding a place to park, waiting in line at the concession stands...all these things keep the doors UNLOCKED....I have no complaints Ernie because I do not believe in accidents. Things happen for a reason and the pursuit of those reasons makes for a very satisfying journey.........Best to you

This is actually quite funny.  And you handled it very well.  Not sure everyone would, including me.

I might shouldn't laugh so hard at your calamity -- BUT, this is hysterical!  A+  First, of course, for your reactions in the moment --  (you kept your head aboutcha.)  Second, for the presentation of your encounter...slapstick at the flick!
