Got Bed Bugs? Woman Burns Down House To Get Them Out!

That is very scary and I would hate to have these critters around my home!

Bugs usually don't bother me, but cockroaches and bedbugs give me the willies.  I have encountered cockroaches in foreign hotels, but have never taken them home with me. 

I think you do have to check the beds and furniture before settling in.  It reminds me of a book I read many years ago  --  it was either The L-shaped Room or The Room at the Top.  The protagonist needed to prove to his/her landlord that there were bedbugs in the room.  The solution was to wet a bar of soap and put it on the bug.  This was, of course, before cell phones with cameras.

This sounds like the owner went to the extreme to resolve the problem. I will think twice when making a hotel choice next time i travel.

I was laying awake in a hotel bed just four nights ago, thinking about the possibility of taking bed bugs home. Seem to be bug free so far. Yuck!

This issue sure has received a lot of publicity lately.  I'm sure someone will come up with a product to eliminate them, but in the mean time who knows the answer.

I was a away for a few days on Cape Cod. We did check the bed thoroughly - tossed and turned for an extra half hour before falling asleep thinking about the potential of such buggies.

I know that heat is one of the best treatments but it takes more than room temperature of 95. Great sites for identifying bed bugs and the registry.

Lizette - I hate staying in hotels, cheap or expensive because of germs and bugs.  I always bring a can of lysol.
