I"m headed for Idaho City today!

I'm going to call it a working trip because everyone I'm going with is a past client  and we're going up there to see another past client.

That's my excuse anyway.  In reality it's just a pleasant day off with people I like.  We'll talk and picnic and Helen will fill us in on Idaho City politics and gossip.

The trip is a beautiful one, My cousin/assistant Sandi and I will drive to Nampa and pick up Leslie and Wendy then zip through Boise, stopping at my partner Rick Greif's Quiznos at the Columbia Center to pick up our lunch.  Then the road goes along The Boise River and the Greenbelt until it climbs up the hill by Lucky Peak Dam then you are along the Reservoir for awhile then you come to the Kodiak Cafe (recently featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives"  then you cross over a high bridge and soon you are in the Robie Creek area at the end of the reservoir.  There's a lot of cool homes there in the "Wilderness Ranch" area - some are vacation homes some are year round - it's an ez commute to Boise.

Then you are in the timber and along Grimes Creek (or More's Creek I'm not sure which) for about 20 miles - this time of year is especially pleasant - the temperature is perfect.

Civilization starts to happen and soon you are in Idaho City - Idaho's first capitol.  It's fun and frontierzy and it's just 39 miles from Boise on a very good highway.

And it's a great place for holding a family reunion which my wife's family will be doing in August.  Great grandma will be 90.

The Lion's club is thinking about making a park out of the Visitor's Center lot.  Since Donna's Place burned again, now's the time.  Donna's Place had been using it as unofficial parking.  I think it would be a nice focal point for the city.  The Community Center is great but off the beaten track.
