Have you received your Miami-Dade Notice Of Proposed Taxes ? I have. I guess I shouldn't be shocked by the fact that I didn't get any reduction in the amount. School Tax wasn't touched as it was exempted. Palmetto Bay was also exempted as it was new. The difference between last year actual and this year estimated is a huge $ 735.16. WOW, what a great job our state legislators did for us. What really makes me wonder is in the midst of falling home prices and no sales to speak of and lenders going out of business the Miami-Dade Acting Property Appraiser has RAISED MY PROPERTY VALUE 03%. What a smart move, they should put this guy on a commission basis.
In today's Miami Herald my leader at EWM Realtors is quoted as follows: ..... "rental deals at at his company are up more than 50 % compared to last year"..... Of course they are, buyers don't want to risk buying at these exorbitant property tax rates until they can determine what they are going to get hit with. Our Miami-Dade Property Appraisal Department sent us a letter that says we can vote for a Super Exemption in January 2008. It will never pass because everyone who has been in their home for 10 years or longer won't get any reduction and all the various county employees who will feel the effect will vote against it. It requires a passing vote of more than 60 %. It doesn't have a chance of passing.
With the great job our Government did with the insurance rates and now this property tax joke, it's Government 2 Public 0.
See you at the polls in January.
