This is the greatest show on earth... I have nothing to add except, if you only read a little bit of the Bible, make it Matthew 5, 6 & 7.

Mike: I believe you can too! I grew up in a Church of Christ ... it didn't take for me. But God had an alternate plan. He always does.

I got to go back there and give my mother's eulogy after catching fire for the Lord. It was awesome and the Lord spoke through me. I finished with the last day I remembered seeing my mom able to respond to me. She was sitting at a table in the dayroom of the nursing home... her head was resting on her folded arms on the table in front of her. When I touched her she looked up at me, not knowing who I was. I asked how she was feeling? She said, in an exhaustive tone, "I just want to go home!" I then did something I never got to do in my whole adult life, I prayed with her. I said "Mom, would you like to ask Jesus to prepare a place for you to come home?" She said "Yes", emphatically. So I prayed and she bowed her head and put her hands together. She couldn't remember anyone, or anything, even how to eat or drink anymore... but she remembered how to pray. After I finished, she just said as loud as I've heard her voice in months, "AMEN!" She died 2 days later, peacefully went to sleep that evening and just never awoke again. We all have a spirit man given to us and when it's awakened by being born again, no matter what happens to our bodies, that Spirit man will rise to the forefront and acknowledge the presence of the Lord.

You can do that anywhere Mike and when you fully grasp ahold of that,  you can change the world.

Bob, I appreciate those encouraging words and believe what you are saying. I have been on a spiritual journey for at least the last 10 years now and know that God is the same today, yesterday and forever. Believe it or not I am starting to see revival at the church I attend. God is sending others like me and they are really starting to make a difference. There is a black guy that came about a month ago who told one of my friends that he was sent there to revive the church. He stands up at the front sometimes during preaching and singing and he has been told that we don't do that. Maybe it is time we give the Lord the respect he deserves. I may just shock my wife next time this happens and someone tries to get him to sit down. I will just join him.

You know it might not shock her because she is where I am at and we are ready for this church to let "God" out of the box they have him in.

Oh man Mike, I got goosebumps reading that comment. Do it if the Lord prompts you. I remember the first time I raised my hands in worship, it just felt so free and right.

We just started a conference at our church this week. The Bishop Joseph Garlington kicked it off last night with a talk on the Holy Spirit. He told a story of a man he met while in Africa. He was sitting on the other side of a man next to him and this man told him that his friend here had raised 10 people from the dead. When he bent over and asked him if it was true that he had raised 10 people from the dead, the man just replied, "You haven't raised anyone from the dead?" in a tone that was really puzzled. To that man, it was just normal to do that and he couldn't believe he had just met someone, esteemed in the church no less, that had never done that. It was baffling to him. So he asked the man, "How did you do this?" The man said "We prayed and the Holy Ghost did the rest." Bishop said when most people call an undertaker, when we should always call the overtaker first. It just doesn't occur to people, even Christians. I agree, let's take God out of the box. It might get a bit messy but let it come.

Do you know why we don't see many people raised from the dead here? It's because nobody believes enough to pray for it. In Matthew 10:8 Jesus told his twelve what to do when they went out... "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers and drive out demons." When we just stick to that, revival will come. For the Kingdom of God is not of talk but of power. Always wield it with love my brother Mike.

Mike ,

A couple of years ago I almost left my church because I thought the Holy Spirit couldn't get in even with an invitation. Eventually I just started to worship as the Lord led me and guess what, i now have people who try to sit near me and worship is alive as more and moe give up their inhibitions and lay it out for the Lord.

bob and Mike..I did leave my church about 6 months ago.  It has been decided in not so many words that the bible should not be taken literaly.  WE now meet in our homes and or aq meeting hall. 15-25 and we have a retired Pastor that leads us.  A real God and Bible believing soul.  Just what God had intended.

Hugh: As the Spirit leads... as David... may you get even more undignified that this!

Bill: Good for you, more like a 1st century church. May a mighty rushing wind of the Spirit overtake your meetings.

We just had the most amazing weekend with Bill Johnson visiting our church. He spoke about something he's been stuck on for a year. The baptism of Jesus. As he says, the Heavens were torn open and the Spirit descended on Him as or like a dove. The Spirit lives within every believer but does not rest upon every believer. It is up to us to maintain a resting place for Him. How would we walk if we wanted to maintain a dove on our shoulder? Carefully but more importantly, taking each step with the dove in mind. That is how we keep the Spirit resting upon us. I will probably do another post on this teaching. I need to hear it a few more times. But the biggest point was about spirtual warfare, when we allow the enemy's plan to distract us, even for a moment, it can change our agenda. We must never even take notice of his schemes and maintain our composure with the dove in mind at all times. The minute we respond to the stimulus of Satan, we have allowed him victory. Thanks guys for the comments.
