You Better Adapt Or Get Out Of The Way!

This market has really changed, not only at Lake Oconee, but everywhere else in the United States due to the subprime crisis and economic climate for the past 3 years. I don't know if things will ever be the way they were before. Many agents that were "Order Takers" are now looking for new jobs. Other agents are scratching their heads wondering what hit them? I have been selling real estate for 21 years, and this is definitely a new era in real estate. Previously, we rarely ever had any foreclosures in our area. Now, we have plenty of them, and that seems to be the focus of what buyers are looking for. Now, our new buyers at Lake Oconee are looking for foreclosures, steals, and deals! I've spoken to some other agents, and they are fighting even dealing with foreclosures or short sales. You better wake up, and get on board, because it's not about to change anytime soon!  It's the agents that adapt and change with the flow that will be able to survive. I'm expecting some big companies to go out of business too, since they are failing to adapt.

One of my big changes was going to work with Keller Williams Realty Lake Oconee. One of the many things I liked about the company is that they are very progressive with their marketing and education of agents. The conventions are exceptional for learning the latest innovations and marketing that other Realtors have found productive in this new age. Also, they are very good for networking with other Realtors from around the United States, who are always very helpful to everyone, since we are not viewed as the "Competition" like with regular real estate company models.

I keep hearing Bob Dylan's song going thru my head - The Times They Are A Changin...

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

You're absolutely right!    It is a "shift", and is actually societal, I think.    It's a post-internet world, and the consumer is in charge.    Agents/companies who don't work with this profound change will be out of business.

Unfortunately true, Alan. I just wish more agents who hate foreclosures would actually bother to read the mls. The deals are much easier to do if somebody knows what 'as-is' means & has the right prequal letter. They might even enjoy it as the list agent ends up doing most of the work to herd those cats.

Happy Closings ;-))
